News from the Parish Council Chair (July 2026)
Cuddesdon and Denton Parish Council
Dear Parishioners,
It is good to see that the County Council has at last taken action with regard to the potholes in the road past the mill. We hope that the repairs will prove lasting and that the holes will not just reappear within a few months.
If you see something that needs attention, such as fly-tipping, faulty street lights, or potholes in the road, please report them via the website fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk . The sooner that a problem is reported, the sooner it can be fixed.
Another ongoing annoyance in the parish is the frequency of power outages. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks have notified the Parish Council that there will be a planned power outage between 9.00am and 4.00pm on 7th July while they carry out essential maintenance on some of the overhead lines. The claim that, once this work is done, we should experience a more stable and reliable power supply. We hope this turns out to be true!
Finally, a few words about planning and planning permission. If you are thinking of making an alteration to your property which might need planning permission, please consult the Planning Department at South Oxfordshire District Council before going ahead with any work.
After the very hot spell at the end of May, the weather seems to have reverted to a more typical English summer – but at least this has provided much needed water for the farmers’ crops and garden plants. Let us hope for a good mix of weather over the next few months, neither drought nor floods!
Best wishes,
Stuart Flockton
