Dartmouth Bowling Club

Victoria Road, Dartmouth

On Thursday 19th March your clubs management committee met to discuss how to proceed in regards to the Covid19 virus. The recent government advice to avoid all unnecessary social gatherings, including pubs, clubs and theatres and that everyone regardless of age should now be stopping non-essential contact with others to help stop the spread of the virus and protect the most vulnerable. That means avoiding gatherings with friends and family as well as crowded places such as pubs and clubs.

This is particularly important for people over 70 and those with underlying health conditions because they are at a higher risk of developing more severe symptoms if they become infected.

There is no minimum number to apply to these gatherings, so your committee has decided with immediate effect to cancel all forthcoming events at the clubhouse including Social Events - MDL - SDL – Club Triples - SHTL – Interclub Foxlands and friendly games until the end of June 2020 unless the situation dramatically changes and we are advised otherwise.

We have also decided to extend our existing membership period which was due to end on the 30th April 2020 until the end of June 2020.

In summary your existing membership will continue until the 30th June 2020. You will then be asked to renew your membership from the end of June 2020 until the end of April 2021 with a retrospective discounted fee applying. A saving of 2 months membership fees.

Members will still have access to the club if they wish for practice roll ups but we would ask you to refrain from using the upstairs club room. However all Tuesday night roll up sessions will be cancelled until the first Tuesday in July.

Your committee will continue to follow government advice and will update you on any future changes to our policy in due course.

Please understand that we take this action with the health and well-being of our members their families and our visitors uppermost in our minds. We feel we have a moral duty, to all, to ensure that Dartmouth Bowling Club runs no risk of becoming a covid19 "hotspot".

Finally until normal service resumes your committee would like to wish all our members, their families and friends our very best wishes. Please keep in contact with your committee members and please let us know if we can be of any help to you through this difficult time.

Very best regards

Dartmouth Bowling Club Committee.
