ENERGISE ME

Dementia-friendly Alton is very proud to have been included in the Hampshire Active Health Programme which has enabled us to organise new activity sessions for people living with dementia and their carers in Alton including a dance class for carers to ensure that family carers can get some respite, whilst participating in physical activity together.

In October 2023, Energise Me launched the Hampshire Active Health Programme. Commissioned by Hampshire County Council Public Health, and funded by the Contain Outbreak Management Fund, the programme aimed to support organisations across the Hampshire County Council area to reduce health inequalities through physical activity. Through the Hampshire Active Health Programme, Energise Me has distributed funding and support to 32 projects across Hampshire. People who experience health inequalities are less likely to be physically active, therefore projects worked with the following target groups:

  • Carers
  • Older people (55+) who are physically inactive
  • People above a healthy weight
  • People experiencing income deprivation
  • People from Black, Asian or ethnic minority communities
  • People living in areas of high deprivation
  • People with a disability
  • People with a long term health condition
