Dementia Champion Damain Hinds MP presented a Dementia Friends Session at Alton College for the New Directions Event which was well attended.

Alzheimers Society Ambassador Terry Eccott who also talked after the session and answered questions said "The session was well received by everyone there. Information about what it is like to live with dementia helps people understand the nature of the disease and in turn take that understanding and turn it into some positive action however small. The Alzheimer’s Society is aiming to have four million Dementia Friends by 2020, to help make our community more dementia-friendly and improve the lives of the 850,000 people currently living with the condition in this country. With a growing number of people living with dementia, it's more important than ever that we all have a better understanding of the condition".

Damain Hinds MP said “I was delighted that Terry was able to come along to the Dementia Friends information session that we ran. It’s inspiring for people to hear directly from Terry on his experience of living with dementia, and really helps them understand more about the disease and how to live well with the condition.”

Alastair Stewart OBE who opened the New Directions Events said he found the Session and Terrys presentation "truly inspiring".
