History
Drayton Village Hall was built in 1868, originally as two cottages which subsequently became a small village school with one school room and with outside privies. The school closed at the end of the 1940's and the building was then empty for a few years while the village raised money to buy it (for £2,000) and then while Drayton Parish Council paid back the villagers and accumulated enough money for alterations for use as a village hall by the mid 1950's, at which point 2 interior toilets and a small kitchen were created.
In 2011- 2013, after fundraising in the village and with a grant from the National Lottery, renovations were carried out which included a new roof, provision of a disabled toilet and a fully equipped kitchen. Within the main hall you will see a painting of the hall showing roof tiles bearing the names of donors.
The hall is part of our village heritage and offers a central meeting place for social interaction to the local and wider community.
