Coronavirus Update as of 5th December 2021

As we are once again facing an uncertain situation with regard to the new COVID variant, the club is taking the following precautions.

  • Towels and tea towels have been removed from the clubhouse but wipes and sanitisers provided as usual. Members can bring their own towels if they wish.
  • All mugs and cups should be washed thoroughly and not just rinsed. If you wish to, you may bring your own.
  • While in the Clubhouse, good ventilation must be implemented with doors left open.
  • Masks should be worn on entering clubhouse and a limit of 6 people at any one time where possible.  Please follow social distancing guidance.
  • Borrowed tennis rackets to be cleaned following use using the wipes provided.
  • Sanitisers to be used before and after touching handles, doors, etc.

We ask that members are responsible for their own safety and show concern for others while using the facilities.

Court Use

All club nights will operate as they did pre-Covid for full members only.  Midweek members are not eligible to attend club nights. Any midweek members wishing to upgrade, please contact us. Anybody interested in joining the club is welcome to attend a club night for 2 sessions (£3 per session).

Friday         6-8pm              Mixed Social

Saturday    10.30-11.30am Junior Coaching

No court booking in advance is required for club nights or social play at any time. Just turn up and if there is a court free, then use it.

Matt, our club coach will be coaching most days but will only be using 1 court unless it is a dedicated Junior coaching session (as stated above), in which case all courts will be in use.

The courts at Farnsfield Tennis Club are open to the public.

Entrance may be purchased from The Veg Stop at the bottom of New Hill who will provide the access code and details of court availability.

Players must provide their own equipment. In order to protect the courts, please play in trainers with non-marking soles.

Prices are £3 per adult and £2 per child. If a queue builds up whilst you are playing we request that you limit your visit to one hour.

Please ensure that the lock is replaced if there is nobody else on the courts when you leave.

Non-members may also play with members (at times other than club nights) and pay the following fees (£3 per adult and £2 per junior). There is a payment tin in the clubhouse. Non-members are also welcome at Tuesday Social.

Anyone using a court MUST adhere to the following rules:

Sanitise hands using the sanitiser on the clubhouse wall

The clubhouse will be open and masks should be worn and social distancing observed. Please clean surfaces following use, with wipes provided and a polite request to not sit on the new radiators or put wipes down the toilet please!

If anyone has any queries, please contact Sue Connor, Alastair Walker or any member of the committee.

General Information

Farnsfield Tennis Club, a friendly, thriving club situated in the heart of the village, welcomes players of all ages and abilities. We have 3 well-maintained floodlit tarmac courts which are open to members all year round. The general public may hire the courts when they are not in use.

There is also a mini court in the adjoining play area which is occasionally used for coaching, but it is normally open to the public. See separate page for information.

The club has around 150 members, split evenly between adult and junior players and there are plenty of opportunities for both competitive and social tennis. We run club nights for ladies, men, mixed and junior players, hold annual club championships and play league matches against other clubs all year round.

Regular coaching sessions are held throughout the year and private coaching can be arranged directly with the club coach.

In addition to running our own open days and socials we also participate in events around the village to promote the club and the sport.

Full adult membership costs around £100 per year, but there is a range of membership options for students, juniors and off-peak players. Potential members are most welcome to come along to club nights prior to joining.
