Consultation & Engagement

Consultation and Engagement Summary

Throughout the process of producing the Fleckney Neighbourhood Plan, local people have been informed of the progress through the website, Parish Council Meetings, newsletters and the local parish magazine Fleckney Communicata. The programme of consultations undertaken throughout the preparation of the Neighbourhood Plan is set out in our Consultation Document and is summarised below.

Neighbourhood Planning Launch Event

This launch event was an opportunity to inform local people about the neighbourhood plan process, and to receive views and opinions on the key issues that the Neighbourhood Plan should address. The event took place in July 2016 at the Sports Centre, Leicester Road. Over one hundred people attended to hear how the process worked, the benefits of producing a plan and the timescale over which it would be produced. An exercise was conducted amongst those present to ascertain what was good about the Village, what was bad, what should be retained and what needed changing. The results have gave a first indication of those matters which were important to local residents and helped inform how the Neighbourhood Plan would develop over the coming months.

Stakeholder Workshop

The Rural Community Council (Leicestershire & Rutland) was commissioned by Fleckney Parish Neighbourhood Steering Committee to organise and independently facilitate a consultation workshop of key local stakeholders. This event was held on 7th February 2017.

Parish Wide Questionnaire

In March 2017 Fleckney Parish Council distributed a paper copy of the questionnaire to all householders and businesses in the Parish, inviting parishioners to set out their views on development in the Parish.  The Questionnaire was developed by the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Committee in conjunction with the Rural Community Council (Leicestershire & Rutland).

The questionnaire was designed to give an opportunity to provide comments and identify views on several matters and issues faced by the Parish.

Drop-In Sessions

These events were held on the 9th and 10th June 2017 at the Fleckney Library and were organised with the support from the Rural Community Council (Leicestershire and Rutland) so that local people could see the result of the Parish Wide Residents Survey and to  discuss the issues and options raised.

Pre-Submission Consultation on the Draft Fleckney Neighbourhood Plan and Drop-In Sessions

As required under Part 5, Section14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, Fleckney Parish Council undertook a pre-submission consultation on the proposed Neighbourhood Plan. The pre-submission draft was publicised to all that live, work or do business within the Parish.

Drop-In events were held on the 15th and 16th June 2018 at Fleckney Library. This provided an opportunity to examine the contents of the Plan and to discuss the detail with members of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Committee.
