Elections for parish councillors including Fleckney Parish Council will take place on Thursday 4th May 2023.

Can I stand as a candidate for Parish elections within Harborough District?

To Stand for election as a Parish councillor within Harborough District Council you must:
 Be 18 years old on the day of your nomination
 Be a British citizen, an EU citizen, or a Commonwealth citizen
 Be registered to vote in and/or have either lived or worked in the Parish area or within 3 miles of it for at least one year

The Nomination process
To stand for as a candidate you must complete and submit a set of valid nomination papers. You will need two people who are on the register of electors within your parish area to support your nomination and sign your nomination paper to confirm this. You can request a nomination pack from the parish clerk for the area you wish to stand in or the Elections Team by emailing e.services@harborough.gov.uk or download a pack from the Electoral Commissions website using the link above.

Your completed nomination forms must be handed in to our offices at The Symington Building, Adam & Eve Street, Market Harborough LE16 7AG between Wednesday 22nd March and no later than 4pm on Tuesday 4th April. The forms cannot be sent electronically or posted, we can also do an informal check for you by making an appointment emailing e.services@harborough.gov.uk or come to one of the drop in check and receipt events below –
 Lutterworth Town Council Offices - 27th March between 4.30pm and 7pm
 Billesdon Village Hall – 29th March between 4.30pm and 7pm
 Kibworth Grammar School (the Studio) - 3rd April between 4.30pm and 7pm Where can I get more information about being a parish councillor?

You can contact the parish clerk for your chosen area who can give you some information about the parish council and may be able to ask one of the sitting parish councillors to give you their experience as a councillor.
