Friends of Alton Station Join FAS

Friends of Alton Station (FAS) launched on 17th September 2015 as a membership association with a constitution and an elected committee. Since becoming a company limited by guarantee in 2019, we have ceased to be a membership organisation. We are still planning to register a dedicated 'CIO' charity to take over the work of restoring and then maintaining the bridge once it has been reinstated.

Now that the bridge project is moving into the restoration phase, we are seeking volunteers to help with fundraising, publicity and management. As this stage, we are not sure if the bridge is going to be restored as a complete commercial contract or whether we will need people to help with the carpentry. However, it would be useful to have an experienced carpenter in our group, and once we get to the installation phase, we will be looking for people with practical expertise in groundworks and other construction industry experience.

If you live in or near Alton, use Alton station, visit Alton, ride on the Watercress Line, use the train to London or have an interest in the architecture and history of the station, then please do consider making a donation via our 'Just Giving' page (link from 'Donation' above).
