Friends of Kingsclere School
All parents and staff are automatically members of the school parents association. Some past parents and staff continue to take an active interest in the school and so it was named the Friends of Kingsclere School.
FKS aims to provide a link between home and school and engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils. The committee is re-elected each year at the Annual General Meeting in September and spends the year planning and organising social and fund raising events for children, parents and members of the village community. The Summer Fete, Christmas Fayre, Bonfire Night Party and Five-a-Side Football, have now become annual events, enjoyed by all sections of the local community. The Quiz Night, Car Boot Sales and Discos are also very popular.
Over the past few years, FKS fund raising efforts have provided many items to enrich and support the education of the children. Some of the major items purchased include computers, a ball wall, a security fence around the swimming pool, new hall curtains, the pond and benches, playground equipment, the amphitheatre, the fitness trail and train, interactive whiteboards as well as musical equipment and storage. £10,000 was raised towards the building of the new library area. The aim at present is to develop an area off the infant playground for pupil use.
The parent, school association depends on the support of every member of the school community to continue its valuable work and we are always in need of new ideas. We hope that you as new parents will fully support it and make new friends at the same time. The Friends of Kingsclere Primary School is a registered charity.
The current Chair of FKS is Rachel Knight.
