Nunney First School celebrated 125 years in 2016 – To help celebrate they asked whether the Frome Men’s Shed could make two life size “Nutcracker Soldiers” for their Christmas celebrations.

The Frome Shed makes and repairs all kinds of things for people and Community Groups in the Frome area – But this was a bit of a challenge.

Two Frome Shedders, Rob Angell and Stewart Male set about making the soldiers – largely from reclaimed wood, along with help from other Shedders.

The Soldiers were delivered just before Christmas, in time for the Christmas celebrations.

Sue Heal, The Executive Head Teacher, Nunney First School said “The Soldiers are great, we love the expressions on their faces, and they “guard” the Castle in our playground”

Patrick Abrahams, from the Frome Men’s Shed added that the Shedders really enjoyed making the Soldiers for the School. We make and mend all kinds of things, but we never take on any work that may be in competition to local businesses.
