COVID-19 Pandemic Latest

The Government (Department for Digital, Cultural, Media & Sport) published its full guidance on the return of outdoor sport and recreation, including lawn bowls, on 13th May. Bowls England issued bowls-specific guidance on 14th May.

The Government advised that clubs should only reopen or restart activities when they feel able to do so safely. The General Purposes Committee (GPC) held an online meeting to discuss this guidance and decided on 26th May that the club should reopen for limited bowling on 1st June, subject to some restrictions. They have produced some local instructions (see below) which all members should familiarize themselves with prior to commencing bowling.

Further to the above on 2nd June Bowls England issued supplementary guidance following the partial relaxation of restrictions by the Government 2nd June 2020: Covid-19 – Supplementary Guidance for Lawn Bowls Clubs

This means that with you now being able to meet up with up to five other people who are not from your own household that pairs and triples games can be played as long as social distancing regulations are observed.

Members must at all times whilst either playing or spectating adhere to the latest Government guidance.
