In July, the Contemplation Garden team organised a Moth Identification event in the churchyard.

At dusk on Monday 20 July, the team set up the non-harming specialist light-trap equipment to attract the moths. They also used a bat detector to identify a number of different bats including the Long Eared, Pipistrelle, Noctule, Barbastelle and Common Serotine.

Villagers came along at 9.00am on Tuesday to identify the moths gathered overnight. The following 28 species were identified before being released:

  18. Chrysoteuchia Culmella
  19. Blastobasis Adusella
  20. Limnephilus Lunatus
  21. Sphinx
  22. Dark Arches
  23. Pheosia Gnoma
  24. Pine Hawk Moth
  25. Acronicta
  26. White Shouldered House Moth
