LOCAL CLIMATE ACTION and GSX

GSX groups are taking action to support reaching Net Zero Carbon emissions.

There are many actions that an individual can take such as using public transport,cycling,not flying,

buying local food,installing solar panels,plant trees and reduce waste.

Local councils have agreed to declare a Climate Emergency inorder to reduce emissions and protect biodiversity.

Local groups are helping to produce action plans for towns such as Bridgnorth and Ludlow.

Shropshire council has agreed to a Climate Framework and the task force has published the Corporate Climate Strategy.

to deliver Retrofit,for homes, Rural Transport improvements and Nature recovery.

Marches LEP has produced an Energy strategy and GSX is represented on the Energy steering group

which will develop projects across the Marches region.

Save our Shropshire is a new charity set up to support Parish and Town councils work on climate change.

Climate Workshops

In March 2020 the Voluntary Community Sector Assembly and GSX organised an event to consider the impacts of Climate Change.

A Net Zero Carbon briefing guide was prepared for the Climate workshops in October 2021 which considered the role

of the Third Sector in the challenges to reach net zero carbon emissions over the next ten years.
