BOWLS ENGLAND ENCOURAGES MEMBERS TO SUPPORT COACH BOWLS

Bowls England would like to remind its members that Coach Bowls is the only nationally recognised coaching qualification for the sport of bowls in England.

Qualifications are delivered in partnership with 1st 4 Sport, as the awarding body, and all successful candidates receive an externally accredited qualification that is regulated by Ofqual (The Government body for the award of national qualifications). Coach Bowls qualifications are wholly recommended by Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd.

The Level One course provides learners with an opportunity to be assessed on both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching bowls to groups of beginner, adults and children in an appropriate environment. The knowledge gained from this award enables candidates to develop an understanding of safe, ethical and effective bowls coaching. It will also allow Level One Bowls coaches, who are aged 18 and over, to independently deliver four taster sessions to beginners as part of the Play Bowls 4 Fun programme.

The course is delivered over two days plus the completion of a portfolio and an assessment, and costs £130. Bursaries for coaches from Bowls England and EIBA Ltd affiliated clubs are available (see details below).
