Hampshire Farmers Market
Hampshire Farmers Markets provide shoppers throughout the county with the opportunity to buy the most delicious, fresh, in season, locally produced, high-quality, affordable food as well as offering great value – see our great offers and deals for more information!
Our regular Food Comparison Surveys clearly demonstrate that a large proportion of our produce is actually cheaper than the supermarkets, with savings in food miles and middle man costs, passed onto our customers. Our markets are regularly held in markets in Winchester, Alton, Petersfield, Romsey, Ringwood, Emsworth and Southsea.
The public are increasingly looking for assurance regarding the food chain and the safety of the produce that they are serving to their families, especially in the light of the recent food fraud scandals. Customers at our markets can be assured of the provenance of each and every item they buy, knowing that it has been locally produced either within the boundaries of Hampshire, or within ten miles of the county border and that it complies with our own very high standards and criteria....
As one of the largest farmer’ markets organisations in the UK, Hampshire Farmers’ Markets is a not-for-profit, community interest organisation that aims to bring the best quality, in season local produce to the people of Hampshire, as well as providing a retail platform for the county’s producers – creating greater awareness of the excellent food and drink they produce, which helps to support the rural economy, rural employment and protects the environment.
“The success of our markets is due to the enthusiasm, dedication and hard work of our many award winning producers, as well as the growing interest in buying locally produced seasonal food.”
Alex Handford, Business Manager for Hampshire Farmers’ Markets
The Hampshire Farmers’ Markets and our producers have won many awards and we are all passionate about bringing the most exceptional food, drink and seasonal produce to a wider audience.
Retailers in all of our market locations benefit from the additional shoppers that the markets attract, with coffee shops, pubs and restaurants enjoying increased custom and we continue to explore new locations for further new markets throughout the county.
Visitors to our markets can enjoy the vibrant, colourful and friendly atmosphere and can talk directly to the producers whilst sampling some of their award winning produce. Each market also has a range of ‘food to go’ options which include our famous Hog Roast, Water Buffalo Burgers and Breakfast Baps; some of the markets also including a Coffee Stall and seating area.
Our markets are an exciting and interesting alternative shopping experience that also includes competitions, tastings, cookery demonstrations and even some live music (depending on market date and location).
Hampshire Farmers’ Markets are also certified by FARMA – the National Farmers Retail and Markets Association.
