Men's Jubilee Unbadged

Men’s Jubilee Unbadged County Competition

Two rinks of 4 men, having had a bye in the first round, played their second-round match at home against Narborough on Sunday 15th June. There are a total of 41 teams from Leicestershire involved in this competition, some clubs having more than 1 team.

Laurence Cadd, John Hollingworth, Mark Kavanagh and Ken Dyde played on rink 2. They found themselves down 1:9 at 9 ends. With a sterling effort and much concentration, the rink got back level on 10 after 12 ends, and went on to win 22:14, restricting their opponents to just 4 shots over the last 6 ends, whilst getting a further 12 shots.

Peter Dicken, Roy Maddox, Tracy Ellis and Gordon Smith played on rink 3. It was a close start being level on 3 after 3 ends, level on 4 after five ends and level on 7 after 8 ends. 6 shots over the next 3 ends saw a 6 shot lead, but that dwindled to 1, 13:12, after the next 2 ends. A bit of determination, or was it luck, and close play, saw Hollycroft get 4 more shots as opposed to Narborough’s 2 over the final 5 ends, ending with a win 17:14.

The aggregate score was 39 to Hollycroft and 28 to Narborough. It was a match well played by both teams, with the final score not quite showing Narborough’s skill and determination.

The next round will be played at home by the 6th July against Fosseway or Leicester.
