Clubhouse refurbishment

Members have been busy during the winter season upgrading the clubhouse facilities.  Work has been carried out to the Gents toilet and new water heaters have been installed in both toilet cubicles.

Grants were secured from East Riding Council Commuted Sums, Withernwick Wind Farm Fund and Dogger Bank Community Fund to repair and replace damaged flooring and purchase a new carpet for the main room and new flooring for the kitchen and this has now been fitted (see photo below).

A new door has been fitted with a new lock.  A new key is available in the Key Safe - please contact any Committee member if you need a reminder of the code number.  Please throw all old keys away as they will not fit the new lock.

We would like to thank Hornsea Lions for a grant to replace our very old and worn out furniture.  The new furniture has now been delivered as shown in the photo below.

2023

We are very grateful to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for awarding a sum of £6849 from the Hornsea Commuted Sums funding which will be used to upgrade the footpaths and patio area in front of the clubhouse and also to purchase a new roller to improve the green.

We also secured a grant from Hornsea Lions which enabled us to update the toilet facilities including the provision of an accessible toilet.

Funding has also been awarded by Sandsfield Community Fund, Withernwick Wind Farm Fund and Doggerbank Wind Farm Fund which will be used to help further improve the Bowling Green.

Hannah Watson has qualified for the Bowls England National Finals at Leamington Spa in August.

Hornsea A team once again reached the final of the Driffield & District triples cup.  The scheduled final was rained off after a cloudburst turned the green into a boating lake.  The rescheduled match eventually took place on Thursday 27/7/23.  This turned out to be a fantastic match against Hutton Cranswick with the result going down to the very last wood.  Unfortunately despite each club winning one rink it was Hutton Cranswick who won the match by just one point.  It was a thrilling end to a very friendly match.  Our congratulations go to Hutton Cranswick but also to Hornsea A team for their fantastic performance throughout the competition which earned them a well deserved runners up trophy.

AGM - 17th October 2023  6.30 for 7pm.  Could all members please try to attend.
