Re-opening the Community Centre - Update at 25th September 2020
We are making progress down a narrow obstacle strewn path towards being able to welcome you back to the Community Centre. On the one hand we are want to make it available to meet the needs of everyone in the local community and on the other we are wholly committed to following the complex, and sometimes confusing, government legislation and guidelines on what can or cannot happen at the Centre during Covid-19.
Other village halls and centres are facing the same dilemma and we are benefiting from being able to share and gain information and experience through social media and ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England).
So what’s the current situation?
We have carried out a Covid-19 risk assessment and taken all the necessary steps to ensure that the building itself can provide a Covid-19 secure environment for users and volunteers.
We have also produced a set of Special Conditions of Hire applicable during Covid-19. Every event or activity organiser must sign to confirm that they have read and understood the conditions and that they accept full responsibility for abiding by them. These Special Conditions can be seen on the main Community Centre web page.
In practice, government legislation and guidelines, particularly those relating to social gatherings, mean that until restrictions are eased there are still many limitations on activities and events that organisers can run safely at the Centre.
However, the good news is that organised exercise classes are now permitted to take place, and both Yoga and Pilates sessions restarted at the Centre at the beginning of September. Also, supervised Scouts, Cubs and Beavers sessions may start again, hopefully in late September/early October.
Be sure that a lot is going on behind the scenes thanks to our hard-working team of volunteers. We continue to closely monitor changes to government guidelines and will keep you updated on the impact of these on the further re-opening of the Community Centre. In the meantime, if you need more information please get in touch by email – email@example.com.
