Recladding the Clubhouse

BEFORE. BEFORE.
DURING 27/05/2025 DURING 27/05/2025

Following on from our successful charity gala day, there was no time to rest as work started on cladding the clubhouse, with materials purchased through a grant from Flutter UKI’s Cash4Clubs programme, delivered in partnership with Sported.

The time had come for some much needed work to be undertaken, to protect the rear of the club house, which is the most exposed element of our home. Our club house, which was originally a cricket pavilion, was moved from the bottom of the welfare site and placed in situ in the 1980s.

Since then regular treatments and repairs were applied to our ‘recycled’ club house, which has been in use as our club house for close to 50 years. Over that time the repairs have increased in frequency and the time to extend its life, through protection from the elements, was overdue. The problem, as always, was the lack of funds to complete the work.

Flutter UKI, through their Cash4Clubs programme, delivered in partnership with Sported.  have come to our help in that aspect and have provided the funds for the work to get underway. Materials have been purchased and work has got underway.

The work will take place over three or four weeks, and started with the attaching of battens to the rear of the clubhouse. Then over a number of weeks, the cladding will be attached along with insulation to the walls, making the club house a little greener as far as energy consumption is concerned.

A future phase 2 of the project will be to clad the front of the club house, to provide a smarter and uniform appearance, but the priority of the work was always going to be the rear, as this was the most exposed area. We will need to find funding from this work before the second phase can commence.

The work on the club house was kindly funded through a grant from Flutter UKI’s Cash4Clubs programme, delivered in partnership with Sported. Their help in supporting our club is greatly appreciated. More can be read about Flutter UKI on 'Our sponsors page' on this web site, by clicking here.
