Tug of War
KHS&SC are proud to have been host to the Bedford Ladies Tug of War team for many, many years. These ladies have represented Bedfordshire at County level, have numerous National Championship titles and have represented England in UK, European and World Championships since 1988.
These ladies are not what you may first expect but are very fit, strong and determined. Competing in different weight categories such as the 480kg, 500kg, 520kg and 540kg the ladies average weight is just 65kg/143lbs or 10st 3lbs.
They host two competitions at our club each year and we would encourage you to come along and see them in action, along with many mens' teams as well. You will experience some of the best pullers in the world.
LATEST NEWS September 2018: Our ladies have just had an amazing week in Cape Town South Africa at the Tug of War World Championships in both the Open Club competition and representing England and coming home with a bronze medal in the Womens 500kg weight class. A magnificent achievement!
June 2019 Our ladies have just won 2 gold medals in the 2019 National Championships in the 520kg and 560kg weights
Sept 2019 Our ladies competed in the European Tug of War Championship in Castlebar, Ireland and won bronze in the club competitions in 2 weights the 520kg and 5650kg. They then represented England in the Ladies 520kg weight and won another bronze!! Congratulations to them all on a fantastic result.
July 2022 Bedford Ladies win World Games GOLD!
Representing Great Britain our ladies competed in the World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Narrowly missing out on a bronze medal in the ladies competition they joined with Lincoln Tug of War club to represent Great Britain in the Mixed competition ( 4 men and 4 women) where they performed brilliantly winning the gold medal!
