Kingsclere Neighbourhood Plan
A Neighbourhood Development Plan establishes general planning policies for the development and use of land in a defined neighborhood; in our case, the parish of Kingsclere.
A Neighbourhood Plan can have policies on:
• where new homes, leisure facilities and business premises should be built,
• what type of development they should be and what they should look like.
The plan can be detailed or general, depending on what local people want.
Neighbourhood Plans allow local people to get the right type of development for their community, but the plans must still meet the needs of the wider area. In our case, we need to comply with Basingstoke & Deane’s Adopted Local Plan 2011 – 2029.
Neighbourhood planning is a growing movement. By October 2016, over 2,000 communities across the country were actively engaged in Neighbourhood Planning. 238 Neighbourhood Plans have gone to referendum and all have been successful, with over 364,500 people having now voted in Neighbourhood Planning referendums. The average Yes vote is 88% and average turnout is 33%.
We are now in the fourth year of developing a Neighbourhood Plan for Kingsclere. Many residents have participated in steering group meetings and many have given their views on the future development of our village.
Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council have completed their compliance checks on the Kingsclere Neighbourhood Development Plan and have published the Plan and supporting documents for consultation. The consultation will run from Monday 29th January until 4.00 p.m. on Tuesday 13 March 2018.
