Queen's Jubilee - 2012
As part of the nationwide celebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Little Wenlock held a party and games event on the Playing Field on June 2nd 2012.
Although the weather wasn't as kind as it could have been, there was a good attendance and everyone enjoyed the activities of the day. There was a variety of family sports, a fun dog show, skittle alley, side shows and games galore, a roast pig and veggie barbecue, and a licensed bar brimming with real ale on tap, cider and Pimms. This year we really raised our game thanks to generous extra support from Peter and John at The Hunstman, Steve at S.P.Holding and many other individuals and businesses.
Amongst the additional attractions, we had a fancy dress parade, commemorative community photo, grand draw, bouncy castles and DJ music.
A commemorative mug was presented to all of the young persons who live in the Parish.
The winner of the raffle prize hamper was Jim Roberts, and the runner up was Romilly Esp who won the Garden Oven.
Entry was free to all parishioners and their families, and proceeds of over £1000 raised from the events went to support the wonderful work of the Severn Hospice.
Many thanks to all those involved with the organisation of the Jubilee Jolly, and to those members of our community that attended and gave support.
