Membership types

FULL MEMBERS

Full membership allows use of the club premises and access to all the activities both bowling and social.  It is a condition of our lease with Fareham Borough Council that we allow one rink to be kept for public bowling.  In order to supervise this and to welcome general enquiries at the club for the months of April to September we operate a Duty Steward roster.  It is a condition of Full Membership that you perform Steward duties for 2½ hours on your given day.  This duty will occur once every three weeks.  Stewards are responsible for checking the Daily Diary and setting out any rinks needed for play during their period as well as other duties.  Full stewarding responsibilities are displayed in the club and in the section Useful Documents on this website.

SOCIAL MEMBERS and TRIAL MEMBERSHIP

Social membership is usually for the non-bowling spouses of full members but is open to anyone.  Social members cannot hold any office in the club and have no vote at club meetings. During the winter we have a full social calendar and Winter competitions to keep our green in use.

If you just want to see if bowling is for you without any commitment consider a Trial Membership.  This is valid for one month from the date you are accepted.  When you take up Trial membership you can bowl as often as we are open and all the equipment is provided.   We have qualified coaches to give you advice if you need it or just bowl with friends.

WINTER TICKET HOLDERS

We also allow the use of our green to members of other bowls clubs that bowl on grass when their greens are closed for the winter.  A Winter Ticket Holder is not a Lockswood member in any sense and plays no part in the running of our club.  They are free to use our green from 1st October to 31st March  and can join in with club roll-ups but may not take part in any club competitions.

Winter Ticket Holders are respectfully requested to comply with our dress code. White above the waist, grey below. Your own Club colours will also be acceptable.
