Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Councillor Portman has planted a red Oak tree to commemorate this year’s Platinum Jubilee and recorded this on the Queen’s Green Canopy Map. The tree is sited opposite the Three Tuns public house. A commemorative plaque designed by the British Legion will be placed at the site shortly.

Our Jubilee celebrations for the 2nd-5th June are underway with the support of 10 volunteers from our village. Two grants towards the project have been agreed from Kent County Council and Councillor Woodford. A summary of events include: Lighting of the Beacon; Scouts - Day at the Races; an exhibition to celebrate 70 years of Lower Halstow (photographs wanted please). Also included is a Sing-a-Long session with piano; a special Church Service is planned and The Big Lunch (picnic) with live music, lots of family entertainment including a Bake Off competition,Tug of War, Fancy Dress, children’s games plus, plus.
