What we do
Lymington Care Group is a voluntary organisation providing cars and drivers to take local residents to medical appointments at hospitals and surgeries, and to appointments with other healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, opticians, dentists and chiropodists.
Requests for journeys are made by the client contacting the Group. A volunteer duty coordinator picks up the request and arranges the journey with a volunteer driver.
We are all volunteers who give up our time to provide the service. The team is currently around 20 drivers and 3 coordinators, and we are always looking for people to join us!
Our drivers use their own cars. In 2024 we carried out over 1500 drives for more than 370 clients. See the table below to see how busy we've been this year.
Our coordinators try to match up requests for transport with a suitable driver. Sadly we may have to refuse a drive if no driver is available.
