Club Access

We recognize it has been frustrating for members that the club could only be accessed when games were scheduled. However it is vital we implemented a system that is simple to operate, does not compromise club security, and does not impose an excessive burden on a small team.

The good news is that the clubhouse can now be accessed via the rear door with the most recent key distributed. New members need to see Brian and leave a deposit in return for a key.

Helping Out

It will be increasingly important for club members to make a contribution, however small, to help the club operate. There are a number of tasks such as the Teas Rota (now published on the notice board) where everyone has a slot allocated. There will also be tasks for Stewards before each game.

In addition, it is clear that there will need to be members who are able to act as bar staff. The game with Hayes on June 11th will require input from a team of people over several hours, for example.

There is always green maintenance to be carried out and some basic gardening. The ongoing process of clubhouse maintenance and refurbishment is occasionally contracted out but some tasks can be carried out by members.

There will be support activities needed during the Open Day (more below) and we aim to entertain a local Guide Troop again (on June 27th).
Members of the committee will be able to direct your offer of help to a task that is within your capabilities so please don’t be shy in coming forward!

Emergency Information

We have made repeated calls for the form to be completed either online or as a hard copy but so far several members have yet to respond. Our records need to be updated along with our ability to deal with an emergency that might occur on the green

Please can you ensure that your information has been lodged with the club, over the next two weeks?

Open Day

This will be taking place on Saturday May 28th from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

All members are, of course, invited and again there will be supporting tasks to become involved in. This will include publicizing the event, basic catering, showing visitors how to bowl, and demonstrating what a welcoming club we are.

Our target from the day is to recruit ten new members. We will be joined on the day by representatives from the local charity Heals.

Competitions

Progress is being made on the 2021 competitions and we are looking to schedule a ‘finals session’ in Mid May.

Information on the 2022 Competitions will be published shortly.

Car Parking

Please can members get into the habit of displaying their membership card on the dashboard of their vehicle whenever using the club car park? This helps to distinguish anyone who is using it illegally.

Club Status

Voting closes on May 1st so please get your slip in before then either via the box on the bar in the clubhouse, posted through the door, or via e-mail to: Alan Rice-Smith.
