Gary lost in the Wiltshire quarter-finals of the National Two Woods, and today, Wednesday 10th August, he was beaten by J. Bryant (Stratton Churchway0 in the County Unbadged Singles. Well done Gary for progressing so far, better luck next year.

Malmesbury Club is left with two representatives in the County Competitions, Alan in the Unbadged Singles who plays his quarter-final on Saturday 3rd September at Chippenham Town against K. Williamson (Westlecot), and Roy, Tim, and Brian in the County Over 60s Triples. They play their match against Salisbury on Sunday 14th August.

In the penultimate Tea & Biscuits fixture, Malmesbury had a good win over Chippenham Town today, Wednesday 10th August, Despite the 30+ temperatures, the match went to 18 ends. As Noel Coward sang

"In tropical climes, there are certain times of day
When all the citizens retire
To tear their clothes off and perspire
It's one of those rules that the greatest fools obey
Because the sun is much too sultry
And one must avoid its ultra-violet ray
The natives grieve when the white men leave their huts,
Because they're obviously definitely nuts!
Mad dogs and Englishmen
Go out in the midday sun
Anyway, enough of that nonsense, Malmesbury won by 99-42 shots and 14-0 points.

Congratulations to Rob on his 50th birthday with his rink winning 28-11.

Malmesbury retains the T&B Shield for the 7th or 8th or 9th or 10th or whatever year, with one more match left on Friday 19th August.
