In the Friday Friendly League game against North Wilts, Malmesbury made a remarkable turnaround. Thankfully, the rain held off on Friday 11th August for this last round game.

At the halfway mark, North Wilts had a comfortable lead with three rinks on top. However, the Smarties influence came into play. Malmesbury have been conditioned this year to never give up for fear of being awarded the Smarties for being the worst rink.

Albert's rink reduced the deficit to 2 shots. Bob's rink came back strongly to win. Colin's rink was 10-16 down with two ends left and turned it around to win 22-16. Arthurs's rink racked up the shots to win easily.

So Malmesbury won easily with 12 points to 2, with 3 rinks to 1 and 80 shots to 50. This was not the result foreseen at the halfway mark.

The Tournament event for the Friday Friendly League is on Friday, 1st September.
