Each year the Heart of Kent Hospice Light Up a Life Appeal gives families and friends an opportunity to pause at the start of the busy Christmas season and remember those who are no longer with us, by dedicating a start in their memory.  The focal point of the appeal is a beautiful candlelit evening where music, readings and reflections provide an opportunity to remember loved ones.  A loved one's name can be entered in the Book of Remembrance if the dedication is received by 10th November.

Heart of Kent Hospice is encouraging people to save their old £1 coins to donate to the charity before the familiar round pound ceases to be legal currency from 15th October.  The campaign is asking members of the public to dig out their piggy banks and loose change jars, search their wallets and purses and scour the back of the sofa to help support local people in care.

Any pounds can be donated to the charity through the Heart of Kent Hospice's 14 charity shops or at Heart of Flavour Café in Maidstone.
