The First and Last Triples of the season.

Saturday, 29th August saw a dozen worthy ladies and gentlemen gather for a 15-ends Triples competition.
Coronavirus had put paid to any competitive bowling this season with only roll-ups being possible in the latter half of the summer. So it was with some sense of getting back to ‘normal’ that we turned up at Rectory Lane and ventured out onto a very pristine green. The question in many peoples mind was, were they going to reach the jacks. The green hadn’t been played on and there had been a considerable amount of rain in the previous 24hours.

Under cloudy skies and a fresh breeze play got under way once the 2 rinks of triples had been drawn. It was Team Albatross v Team Buzzards.
The lack of time on the green was very obvious from the start with most of us struggling to get on the jack, but as the ends progressed our brains and bodies began to respond to the task and the ends becoming more competitive.
A shower late-on did not damped our spirits and the ‘heads’ were becoming hotly contended.
In the end the Buzzards were successful and we all retired to the club house for a welcome cup of tea or coffee and a tasty cupcake, kindly provided by Kathleen Linney.

The afternoon was a little reminder of what we have missed this year but, hopefully we will have more opportunity to get onto the green in 2021
