Parish Clerk and RFO

The current Parish Clerk and RFO (Responsible Financial Officer) for the Matching Parish Council is Ernie Fenwick, who has carried out those roles for since April 2007.

Like the majority of Parish Clerks, he works on a part-time basis and can be contacted by email at parishclerk@matchingcouncil.org.uk or on 07971 980645

As Clerk his role is to carry out all administrative duties relating to the Parish Council and their involvement with members of the parish and the higher levels of local government with Epping Forest District Council and Essex County Council. He attends all meeting of the council, prepares minutes of the meetings, circulates all relevant correspondence and keeps the website up to date.

As RFO he is responsible for overseeing the financial dealings of the council, maintaining the bank account and making recommendations for the Budget and setting the Precept. He maintains the parish council accounts and issues monthly financial reports  to the council and on the council website.

Ernie has lived in the area since moving from his native North East in 1974 and lived in Hatfield Heath for 28 years, but has now moved to Bishops Stortford. He served as Parish Clerk for Hatfield Heath Parish Council from 2004 until 2018 and has also clerked for Hatfield Broad Oak, Willingale and High Ongar. He is a keen golfer and was a member of Bishops Stortford Operatic Society and the Pavilion Players Music Hall group for over 25 years.
