Parish Notices

Our parish paths
All around Shropshire there are groups of people getting together to help maintain public rights of way. These community groups make great improvements to the footpath network, repairing stiles/gates or installing new ones.
I would like to start such a group in Melverley. I recently retired from Shropshire Council’s Rights of Way team, where my job involved supporting and working with such Parish Path Partnership groups, so I have a lot of experience in this kind of work. I am a local landowner with a strong commitment to making footpaths accessible.
These P3 groups (as they are known) work with local councils and are supported by Shropshire Council, which supplies all the necessary materials and tools.
I am aware of certain urgent footpath issues in Melverley and would be keen to tackle these as a priority, before undertaking a survey of all the parish rights of way to identify problems, which would then inform a future work programme.
