Brian bows out in Semi's

Brian Poole failed in his bid to rewin the Devon County Over 60s mens singles title at a sunny and warm Sir Francis Drake Bowls Club in Plymouth on Sunday.

Having won the competition in 2017 and getting to the final again in 2018, Brian lost to eventual winner and Middleton Cup lead Rob Honeywell of Kings Bowls Club by 14 shots to 21 in todays semi-final.

A closely fought contest started off evenly matched as both players struggled to get used to what appeared to be a tricky rink. As both players settled in, ends were traded but it was Honeywell who maintained a slender lead throughout. A full house of 4 shots, deep into the match, took the game away from Brian.

A series of close measures went the way of Honeywell and a final one, on which proved to be the last end of the match, was enough to bring Brian's run in the competition to end.
