Dear MBBC members,

The following information provides an update on how our members have been getting on so far this season in County and National competitions and also lets you know what matches are coming up over the next few weeks.

National Family Pairs: Brian Poole & Andy Poole won their first-round match against Helen & Richard Ellis from Crediton. However, after a closely contested match, they lost narrowly to Ian & Chris Bond of Crediton in the second round.

Mens County Singles: With very few entrants in the Section 4 County Singles it was kind of inevitable that Brian Poole and Andy Poole would be drawn to play each other in the first round. Andy managed to scrape through a good game 21-13. Andy then faced Robert Paxton of Crediton in round two. Having led 8-2 and 10-6, Andy, unfortunately, went on to lose 10-21.

Mens County Two Wood: Brian Poole lost to Robert Paxton of Crediton 8-16 and Andy Poole lost to Kevin Phillips of Topsham 11-16 in the first round.

Mens County Pairs: Phil Thomas & Richard Tapp played Roy Andrews & Neil Thomas of Crediton in the first round. Unfortunately, they lost the match 13-21.

Mens County Triples: David Eastell, Richard Tapp & Brian Poole had a close game in their first-round match against P Stone, M Daniel & A Elson of Topsham, losing narrowly by 12 shots to 15.

Mens National Two Fours: Our men recorded a very good win in our first-round match, triumphing by 32 shots to 18 at home against South Molton. The team comprised of Paul Buttle, Brian Poole, Richard Tapp & Andy Poole (Rink 1) and Phil Thomas, Henry Cruwys, John Battishil & Edwin Hutchings (Rink 2).

Ladies Pairs: Marcia Mills and Annie Robinson came up against the pairing of Arscott & Summers of North Tawton in their match played on 11th May. Unfortunately, they lost the match 5-19.
