Morden Parish Council

COUNCILLOR VACANCY

There is still a vacancy on Morden Parish Council.  If you are interested, please contact Alex Brenton or Alison Clothier, our Parish Clerk on mordenparishdorset@outlook.com or attend the next meeting.

SADLY IT’S A MESS!

We all enjoy our open spaces and footpaths but some people are not being responsible for keeping them pleasant to walk on.  Dog poo left on paths and gateways where people can walk in it is becoming a problem.  If a dog hides its business in brambles or under a hedge it is not really a problem, but there is increasing amounts left, in particular gateways which is unpleasant for anyone. Please bag it and take it to your home bin.

The Parish Council is reluctantly considering whether to install some Dog Poo Bins, because of this issue. Suggested places discussed are by the informal layby opposite Goodwins Cottages which may help dog walkers who park near the pub.  West Morden possibly by the end of Hectors Lane or at the end of the footpaths near Ernle farm. There is already a bin on the Village Hall car Park which is often used by walkers who park there. Any other suggestions welcome.  Decision will be made at the May Council meeting.

FOOTPATHS BECOMING MORE ACCESSIBLE, Although the ground is still pretty sticky the Parish has tried to help by installing a pedestrian gate on /footpath 18/19 (the steep hill field).  In winter the way is open but treacherous, but in summer this means that there is a better way than the narrow stile or sliding under the barbed way gate. If funds allow more gates will replace stiles around the village, perhaps one a year.

Next Meeting Monday 11 May 2026 at 7:30pm.
