Arts & Crafts

Seaview Art Gallery

We originally focused on maritime and Isle of Wight landscape scenes by predominantly Isle of Wight artists.

Although, we do still work mostly with Island based artists our subject matter has widended somewhat. Alongside our classic scenes we also show abstract work by artists such as Lisa Traxler and Lynn Young and from the mainland Jennie Slater. Impressionist work by Island artists Barbara Gould and Holly Maslen. Contempoary and classic still life paintings by Raymond Burt and Carolyn Pavey. We have gained some incredibly well known artists such as Shane Couch, James Bartholomew and Jeremy Houghton.

Whilst our goal is still to promote the wonderful work of over 50 of our Island artists our relationships with artists from the mainland continue to grow.

Goddards Brewery

We've frequently been asked about the snoozing man and what his connection is with Goddards Brewery, so we thought it was about time we introduced you.

The Brewhouse at Barnsley Farm, near Ryde on the Isle of Wight, dates back to the 18th century and Goddards Brewery is a revival of this tradition of farmhouse brewing.

In the early days the beer was generally brewed for the estate and for the farm worker as part of his pay.  Whilst he would recognise some of the traditional hops - Fuggles and Golding's - and quality malts now used, he would be amazed at the technology employed to ensure the consistency and excellence of the beers produced.

The snoozing man is actually a shepherd, resting under a tree with his tankard of ale, whilst minding his sheep.  He represents our agricultural heritage, and frankly we feel pretty sentimental about him, so he's come with us on our rebranding journey.

We just didn't feel so sentimental about his sheep...

Vic's Stores Londis

Vic’s Stores is a small, family run, convenience store located in the heart of Nettlestone village. The shop was established in 1960, and I, Charles Brading, have been in continuous employment in the family business since the age of fourteen. I took over the running of the business in 1990, making me the second generation to run Vic’s and the third to serve the community as a retailer of foods.

There is a great spirit of community in Nettlestone, and indeed on the Isle of Wight, and we to take this into account and attempt to encourage it by sourcing our fresh produce, where possible, from within the Island and indeed in some cases (our free-range eggs for example) from within the village of Nettlestone itself.
