Last night saw just under 70 members and guests descend on the Test Valley Golf Club near Overton for the Club's 40th Presentation Dinner and Dance. Our 23rd successive event at Test Valley, it was, as the six members present who had attended the first Dinner in 1969 remarked, far removed from those early Dinners at the Carnival Hall in Basingstoke when we had to set up the room, set up and run the bar and even lift the piano on and off the stage. Our principal guests for the evening were Julie Greenwood, the Women's President of Bowls Hampshire, Ken Eichen the County Men's President and our "Landlord and Club member" Jamie Colman. We were also delighted to have with us both the 2018 Senior Vice and Junior Vice Presidents of Bowls England, Hazel Marke and Paul Robson. Following an excellent meal, Club President and founder member Peter Bown proposed the Toast to the Guests to which Ken Eichen responded. The toast to the Club was by Julie Greenwood with Vice President Lesley Allard responding. The trophies were presented by Mr Jamie Colman. Following the presentations there was dancing to a local disco and the Grand Raffle before, around midnight, members departed for home having had a highly enjoyable evening.
