Today President Jim led a party of 16 members (by far the biggest Club representation) to the Fleming Park Bowling Club at Eastleigh for the annual Bowls Hampshire Luncheon and Prizegiving. Sadly County Men's President Ian Mulholland was unable, through illness, to attend, so after we had enjoyed the normal excellent meal, it fell to Women's President Carol Eichen to make the Toast to Bowls England. Our principal guest Viv Tomlinson, the Bowls England President from Lancashire then proposed the toast to the County. This year, with the introduction of the Senior and Juniors Pairs the prizegiving was a lengthier affair than normal but it had particular interest for Oakley with Heather Statham picking up the Two Wood Singles trophy, Nicole Rogers the Junior Singles, and Nicole and Heather the Junior Pairs. Not to be outshone, well not by too much, three of our somehat older members, Ric Newson, Spencer Kerley and Bob Goodyear were there to pick up the Senior Fours Runners Up trophy. All in all it was an excellent event and thanks go to all our members who supported it.
