Having been rained off yesterday and, as a result having to frantically re-arrange and in one case concede games due to be played today, our mixed four of Mary Varndell, Nicole Rogers, Ashley Nethercliffe and Fred Norris made, this evening the long journey to Boscombe Cliff, hoping that a win would take them to the Last 16 of the National Commpetition to be played at Leamington. They were to be disappointed. Up against a Boscombe team containing four very experienced Middleton Cup and Johns Trophy players, Oakley made a bad start being 10 shots down after only 4 ends and with none of our team bowling anywhere near their best, Boscombe were in complete control throughout the game and we conceded when losing 4-26. It was a sad end but the players can console themselves that they had a good campaign beating some strong teams to reach such a late stage of the competition.
