On Thursday evening Oakley Women travelled to Alton to take on Alton Social in the Thornbery Trophy - the Bowls Hampshire Double Rink Club Championship. Oakley made a good start leading 12-10 after 5 ends but by 10 ends we trailed 16-19. The third quarter proved decisive as Social increased their lead to 10 and although Oakley tried hard they could not, when up against the two experienced Hampshire Walker Cup skips, much much of a dent in the lead, eventually losing 32 - 38. Oakley scores: Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon, Janie Vickers and Rurh Bown lost 16-19, Nicole Rogers, Val Ryan, Heather Statham and Alice Lovett lost 16-19
