NICOLE BOWS OUT OF TWO WOOD SINGLES

It was a disappointing afternoon for Nicole Rogers as she took on Angela Hayton of Cumbria in the Women's Two Wood Singles first round at Royal Leamington Spa. Angela settled the quicker on a tricky rink with a gusty cross wind and soon led 5-1 but Nicole pulled back to 5-5 and, seemingly beginning to settle into her usual form, moved out to a 9-5 lead. Angela, however, stuck in and the match was tied at 9-9 and 11-11 before the Cumbrian taking advantage of some uncharacteristic short bowls from Nicole scored a one and a two to win 14-11. Nicole will now have to re focus for the upcoming Pairs and Junior Pairs where she will be partnered by Heather Statham.
