OAKLEY BOW OUT OF GAZETTE

Playing last night, the Gazette Cup against Alton Social, the Oakley Ladies made a good start leading 24-15 after 6 ends. Towards the middle of the game they had pushed their lead out to 17 shots and an Oakley win, for a brief moment, seemed possible. It was not to be. The momentum from that point switched to Social and, despite Social's team not including 5 Johns Trophy players, Social had, by 12 ends tied the scores. The remaining ends saw Social picking up some big scores and eventually Oakley lost by 65-47. Commiserations Oakley and good luck to Alton Social in the next round.

Oakley scores: Carol Phillips, Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers lost 17-18; Christine Williams, Lesley Dumelow and Laura Butler won 16-15, Angie Rowe, Mary Varndell and Val Ryan lost 14-32.
