Last night at Malshanger, three Oakley Triples were looking to reach the semi-finals of the Basingstoke and District Triples. The weather was appalling with incessant rain and all the teams agreed that, on this occasion 12 ends would constitute a game. This was a good decision as by 12 ends there was standing water on the green and it would have been impossible to complete a full game. Two Oakley Triples were playing each other and that of Sean Lassman (substituting for Ted Brown), Terry Heath and Ric Newson eaked out a victory over David and Peter Nutley and Duncan Wilkins. The other game saw Malcolm Grime, Dave Harrison and Trevor Wearn take on a Basingstoke Town team, two of whom have qualified for the County quarter-finals, and when 4-10 down the prospect of success seemed remote. However our team levelled the scores at 11 ends and a 4 on the final end saw them into the semi-finals. We wish both teams further success.
