SEAN OUR ONLY WINNER ON NIGHT

With County competitions in the Northern Area reaching a late stage, Oakley players tonight had three chances to reach Area and County Finals. Playing at Alton, in the Ladies Singles, Laura Butler looked on course for the County Finals at Banister Park as she led Sharon Dunt of Fleet United 18-12, but a change of jack length proved decisive as Sharon won 7 successive ends to win 21-18. There was no joy either for Ric Newson and Martin Vickers as, at home, they were comfortably beaten in the Area semi final of the County Pairs, by the Alton Social pair skipped by Reece Graham. There was, however, some consolation in the County Singles semi final at Alton Social where Sean Lassman, picking up 7 shots in the last two ends, reached the Area Final with a 21-17 victory over Social's Medhi Akkouh.
