THE WAIT CONTINUES

It is almost 30 years since Oakley Ladies lifted the Thornbery Trophy - the County's two rink Club championship. The wait for another victory continues, as this evening Oakley were eliminated from this year's competition by Basingstoke Town. On a roll after their recent win over Cove in the National Top Club competition. Town, took an early 12-8 lead by 5 ends and steadily built on that lead, so that with just two ends to play Oakley needed an unlikely 10 shots to win. It was not to be and we wish Town good luck in the next round when they play either Alton Social or Yateley.

Oakley scores; Mary Varndell; Jo Holland; Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers lost 17-15: Christine Williams; Lesley Dumelow; Val Ryan amd Laura Butler lost 19-13.
