Penarth Windsor Bowling Club
History From 2012- To Date
In September 2015 the first team won promotion to PG1 Division Two, under the Captaincy of Brian Rogers. The Management Committee agreed to introduce a new tournament, in memory of John Skone, a well respected former club member. The winners of the competition was David Mason and his team from Ely, Cardiff. Another first also occurred as Matthew and Emma Woodcock, not only became the first husband and Wife to win the National Mixed Pairs competition, they also became the first to win the competition from Penarth Winsdor.
In 2016 the first team were sadly relegated back to PG1 Division Three. However we were still very successful, the men won both the Munro Cup and Hugh Meddins Trophy, and the Ladies won their County afternoon league section. In honour of these achievements a social day/evening was arranged at the club for members to celebrate. Mr Ken McLeod returned to winning ways and won the County Senior Rinks with 2016 Captain Richard Flintley, Rod Hudson and Mal Hope. Later in the year, our 'adopted' member Emma Woodcock, won a silver medal at the World Championships in Christchurch.
In 2017 the first team were promoted to PG1 Division two and our 'adopted' member Emma Woodcock was selected for the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April 2018.
