Weather Conditions and the use of reserve players - updated 06/12/2025
Weather conditions / match results
The Greenkeeper will decide whether the condition of the Green is suitable for play.
The Club Captain will decide if weather conditions are suitable for members to play.
The Club Captain is responsible for deciding whether matches need to be abandoned before completion due to weather conditions. Whenever possible they will liaise with the Greenkeeper before making a decision.
If matches are postponed due to weather conditions they will be played at a later date agreed between the Blocks and the Club Secretary.
If matches are abandoned after start of play, the result will stand if more than half of the scheduled ends have been completed. If only half or less than half of the scheduled ends have been completed when a match is abandoned, the match will be replayed from the start on a date agreed between the Blocks and the Club Secretary.
If it is not possible to replay the match before the end of the league competition then the original score will stand.
Use of Reserve Players -
The services of only one reserve can be used in a match.
Reserves must not be a member of other Blocks within the league.
Insufficient players at start of a game - Australian Pairs
If both players of a Block fail to turn up then the other Block will be awarded the points unless both Blocks have previously agreed an alternative date and informed the Club Secretary.
If a Block is one player short and a reserve is not available the player who is present can, play with two sets of woods or, forfeit the match with the other Block being awarded the points.
Insufficient players at start of a game - Chairman’s Block League
If all players of a Block fail to turn up then the other Block will be awarded the points unless both Blocks have previously agreed an alternative date and informed the Club Secretary.
If a Block has two players present they can enlist the services of a reserve or the two players can play against the Block of three with all players using three woods as standard EBF laws allow.
If a Block has only one player present they may again enlist the services of one reserve and play two against three as described above.
Reserves playing in the Chairman’s Block League are not allowed to play as Skip.
