Rookley Parish Council
Rookley is a village located on the A3020 road in the central area of the Isle of Wight (an island off the south coast of England, close to Southampton and Portsmouth). It has around 200 households and a population of approximately 500. The village is surrounded by farmland and open countryside, some of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Many residents travel to and from Newport (the County town) each day (20' on the bus or by car), but there is some local employment, and quite a lot of retired folk. The village has a Post Office, Co-op Store and Pub, and is the home of Rookley Country Park, which welcomes holidaymakers in caravans or chalets.
