History of Club

The Royal British Legion was formed in 1929.

Harold Powell was our most prestigious member, in 1958 he became  Men's National Singles Champion, in 1975 with partners, Geoff Kirby and W. Stewert were the Men's National Triples Champions.in 1966 they were Runners up in the Men's National Triples Championship they lost to Clevedon Bowls Club who could of possibly had the Great David Bryant as an opponent.

Harold  was an international player in the years of 1959, 1960, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 (Captain)

The RBL when playing in the A & D. Premier League were Winners in 1937, 1942,1958,1959,1960,1961 and the last time 1968.
